The government of the Anambra state has banned the use of the miniskirt in public and private schools of the state.
This is just when the state’s schools resume for the new academic session on Monday.
The commissioner for education, prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, announced the government’s decision during an interactive meeting with the education secretaries of public and missionary schools held at the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board.
Auditorium, Awka, Saturday. Chuma-Udeh denounced the growing trend of female students wearing miniskirt uniforms in schools.
She pointed out that it was morally wrong and unacceptable by the state government’s desired standards for children.
He said the acceptable length for uniforms in the state was still knee-length and not above the knee, as it was fast becoming fashionable.
The commissioner has instructed the secretaries of education to check that the schools comply with the directives to save the future of the students of the state.
He instructed the participants to instill correct morals and discipline in the students so that they came to have good behavior and conduct. According to her, a student should appear intelligent, well groomed, project positive vibes, and not be dressed indecently for school.
“A student should look smart, well groomed, project positive vibes, and not be indecently dressed for school,” she said.
