The management of Benue State University, BSU Makurdi, has directed all staff members to resume work, earlier reported by the Real Life Reporters.
The statement was issued by the university’s registrar, Dr Mfaga Modom, titled, “Reopening of the University,”
The BSU management ordered all the varsity staff members to resume duty starting from Wednesday, 28 of September, 2022.
According to the statement issued out, it noted that the resumption date for students would be communicated later.
Reacting to the development. Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU Benue State chapter, has kicked against the directive.
Dr Victor Tarnongo, who is the Benue state ASUU Chairman spoke to the newsmen said that the association did not shut down the varsity’s gate.Dr. Tarnongo furthered that the strike embarked upon by the union continued until what is expected is being put in place.
“The school authority can direct the opening of the university because ASUU did not close the university but our position is that the action continues,” Dr Tarnongo, ASUU Chairman stated.
