Ahead of the 2023 general election, the candidates, leaders and members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state have turned to God for victory.
THE OWL NEWS reports that religious leaders of different denominations met on Monday at the PDP Secretariat in Abeokuta, praying for God’s protection during election tours and success at the polls. Despite the pouring rain that characterized the day, Islamic pastors and Christian Prophets knelt in the rain to pray fervently for the parties victory.
The idea, the party said, was to seek God’s face for his protection before and during the campaigns and to protect himself from the “evil plans” of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). In his words, Adebutu revealed that the PDP was physically and spiritually getting ready for the 2023 elections, asking people not to give up.
The candidate for governor said the PPD was seeking victory for all its candidates, from the presidency to the House of Assembly. Adebutu said he sometimes got tired of the insomnia that accompanies election campaigns, and said, however, he decided not to give up on making the sacrifices necessary to improve Ogun’s status.
He said his decision to join the race for governorship was not to accumulate wealth, but to give good governance to the people of Ogun and make the state a better place for all.
Speaking to reporters, PDP State Women’s leader Remilekun Olusoji said: “We are here to seek the face of God and his protection before the campaigns begin. We are also here to seek peace and love in the PDP. “We prayed for the victory of all our candidates. This was necessary after a dream I had that required us to come together for a group prayer session. We did it and now we are confident in the victory at the polls ”.
