Adamawa Assembly approves N175bn as 2023 budget

The Adamawa State House of Assembly has approved N175 billion for Governor Ahmadu Fintiri as the annual budget for the 2023 fiscal year.

The Assembly on Wednesday approved the sum as proposed earlier by Governor Fintiri.

DAILY POST recalls that Fintiri had last month, November 25, presented a total of N175,019,054,060 for approval of the legislature.

The Assembly had during a recent plenary presided over by the Speaker, Aminu Iya Abbas, referred the appropriation bill to the Committee on Finance, Budget and Appropriation for scrutiny.

The Committee, headed by Hamidu Sajo (Yola-North) submitted its report to the Assembly after Ministries, Departments and Agencies completed defending what was appropriated to them.

After presenting the report by Hon. Lekki, the Majority Leader, Hon. Japhet Kefas (Gombi) moved for the Assembly to dissolve into the committee of the whole for consideration.

He, likewise, moved that the report be read for the 3rd time, a move which was seconded by Haruna Jilantikiri (Madagali), after which it was adopted.

Thereafter, the Deputy Speaker, Pwamwakeno Mackondo, who presided over the sitting, directed the Clerk of the Assembly to communicate the Assembly’s resolve to Governor Fintiri for expected signing into law.
