NANS Calls for Immediate Arrest of Baale and others in TASUED Student Murder Case

The National Association Of Nigerian Students (Nans Ogun,Joint Campus Committee) in the late hours of Monday demanded for the arrest of the baale and other person involved in the death of the Tai Solarin University of Education’s 300 level Student

The message from Nans read:

INFORMATION CENTER:

WE DEMAND AN IMMEDIATE ARREST, INVESTIGATION AND PROSECUTION OF ALL PERSONS INVOLVED IN THE MURDER OF A TASUEDITE IN IMAWEJE.

We are saddened by the unfortunate occurrence that claimed the life of one the students of Tai Solarin University of Education. The student who was alleged of cultism was said to have been raided in his home, paraded in broad daylight and tortured till death by the self-acclaimed non-coordinated illegal community vigilante in Imaweje. As legally conscious body, we are aware that suspects shall remain suspect and to be handed over to the police for necessary investigation in the case of civil arrest. These groups of small boys who raided the student in a kingpin manner were said to be working on the order of the Baale of Imaweje and Ijele community. We condemn in its totality this murderous act and therefore demand that the security agencies should arrest every single individual involved in these acts. This arrest should include the insensitive, reckless and clueless Baale of Imaweje who has an antecedent of brutalising students.

The murder of the students has placed an emotional burden on us to find it difficult to condemn the students for protesting and allegedly razing down some houses in expression of their anger against the unjust murder of one of them. It is in our weirdest shock that the University management in a statement released by the Public Relation Officer gave us an instinct that they are enablers of the dastard action of the community leader by saying the students died in the process of investigation. The University PRO in this statement sound uniformed and only took side with the community people rather than take a neutral stance if he could not at least defend the right to life and fair hearing which the murdered students should enjoyed. Who gave a merely formed community gangs the audacity to arrest and investigate anyone for whatsoever reason and not hand over suspect to the police? We therefore demand a more compassionate at statement from the management. We suspicious that their statement is intentional so as to blackmail the students populace and then bill them a reparation fee. Should the management come with this, they should be prepared to also provide us with a reparation life and bring back Bayo from death.
We are conscious and sensitive to this period of inauguration and kept a silence over the last 24 hours to allow the day pass. It is expected that by now all individuals involved in the murder are arrested, investigated and bid for prosecution. But the DPO of Omu division who has been benefiting from the proceed of bail fee paid by illegally arrested students in the community is in connivance with the Baale. We therefore call on the Ogun Police Command to call the DPO to order.

We call on the government of Ogun state to as a matter of urgency take a critical intervention into this matter by first deposing the Baale of Imaweje from the throne and subject him to thorough investigation. We have voice and video recordings of the atrocities committed by the Baale and his boys and it is expected that the police would have as much. We are by this statement declaring publicly our clear interest in getting justice served on this case. We urge the students populace to go by the law pending the period of investigation which we expect to be concluded within the two breaks the University management. We do not expect anything less as the reason for the declaration of break. We appeal to all students union presidents of various institutions in the state to be at alert as the association would declare a protest action to shutdown Benin Ore highway from Wednesday 31st of May, 2023 if the Baale is not arrested and detained within the next 24 hours.

A luta continua
