” In the days when the judges ruled in Isreal. So a man from Bethlehem in Judah left his home and went to live in the country of Moab, taking his wife and two sons with him.” – (Ruth 1:1 NLT Version )
Dear brother Elimelech was once a brother in the lord to me and my neighbour in the land, his family and I were very good friends.
I learned you heard about what happened to my dear brother and you said it was all because he left his home, am I right?
Well, I wouldn’t say you are wrong but it’s weightier than how you think it was.
Brother Elimelech didn’t just leave his home suddenly, the truth is that he had been leaving home before, he only took his final departure on the day he left.
It all started from his daily distance from his fellowship with God of which he no longer finds the necessity for that anymore all because of the severe famine in the land.
He daily distanced himself from friendships of accountability, we asked him to let us seek the face of God as touching the famine in the land but he said that is not the best way to go hereby distancing himself the more from us.
Our dear brother no longer come to fellowship, church meetings and was so engrossed with his newly found easier ways to escape the famine.
He no longer has time for his devotions, quiet time, personal vigils, Bible studies, prayers, and other spiritual exercises.
He also distanced himself from his family.
It was all from a walk away from the things of God.
He took just a walk away from all these and tasted the ways of the world which seemed right and a fast way to scale through the famine in the land
Having been filled up with the glittering things of the world and have gone too far in the world’s ways.
Our brother LEFT totally, he left his home finally, he left his relationship with God, he left all his godly friends and elders. He even left us in the land and mocked us to keep praying and seeking God’s face concerning the famine till we die of hunger
He heard there was surplus food and resources in Moab
He took his family along – his wife and two sons
And after that…
” Then Elimelech died, and Naomi6 was left with her two sons. The two sons married Moabite women. One married a woman named Orpah, and the other a woman named Ruth. But about ten years later, both Mahlon and Kilion died. This left Naomi alone, without her two sons or her husband” (Ruth 1: 3-5 NLT Version_)
And that was the end of brother Elimelech. That affected his entire family also.
Can you see that he didn’t just leave his home at once? All started from a single walk away from God, an isolation fellowship with God due to the famine in the land.
A man that will fall would first take a walk away or distance himself from fellowship with God and friends of accountability.
Have you also taken a walk away from God due to famine, hunger, unemployment, debts, etc?
And you have broken the communication with the Father?
Return home! There is no better time to return than now. Please, come back home
Don’t go too far like brother Elimelech. He also is in tears presently asking you to learn lessons from his life.
If you lose touch with home, you will likely forget your home training. Beware!!!
