To apply for jamb can be very difficult for some people and it can also be very easy for some people. A lot of jamb aspirants make lots of mistakes when they register or apply for jamb. On this article I will list out the steps to follow for success when and if you want to apply for jamb.
STEP 1: Get your profile code from jamb
Using your mobile phone and a sim card that has never been used to register a jamb candidate before, send an sms to 55019 using this format; NIN (your nin number), Just as shown in the image below.
Make sure you have an airtime balance of at least #50 before sending the sms, after 2 minute you will receive your PROFILE CODE from jamb.
Note: check to make sure that your NIN is correct before sending the sms to avoid the common mistakes that occurs when candidates apply for jamb.
STEP 2: Purchase Jamb pin
There are different methods to purchase a jamb pin , but the most secure method is to purchase your jamb pin at a bank.
Go to any bank that sells Jamb pin, when you get to the bank ask the cashier for a teller or form for jamb pin purchase, fill the form or teller and include your jamb PROFILE CODE before making payment. After making payment ,you will be given a receipt of payment and a slip that contains your jamb pin
STEP 3: Proceed to an accredited jamb cbt center to complete jamb registration
Locate an accredited jamb cbt, go to the center along with the slip containing your jamb profile code and the jamb pin you purchased at the bank, this is necessary to complete the registration process when you want to apply for jamb.
At the jamb cbt center an agent will attend to you, make payment to get registered and present the slip containing your jamb profile code and jamb pin to the agent. Also provide all the necessary informations needed to complete your registration at the accredited jamb cbt center.
Below is a list of necessary informations needed to complete your jamb registration at a jamb accredited cbt center
- Your Date of birth
- Your State of origin
- Your Local government
- Preferred examination state
- An email address
- Gender and other bio data details
- Choice of institutions
if you are not using awaiting result, Go along with a print out of your O-level result, if you are using awaiting result you don’t have to go with a print out of your o-level result but make sure you take your o-level result to upload it at any jamb accredited cbt center when you finally have your result
Note: You must be present during your jamb registration at the cbt center for finger print capture
STEP 4: Acquire your jamb registration slip
After registration is successfully completed, you will receive a mail from jamb containing your registration slip and you will receive an hard copy of your jamb registration slip, a jamb brochure CD and a novel at the point when your registration is complete, the registration slip is a proof that you have been successfully registered for jamb
STEP 5: Get your exam slip and proceed to sit for your examination
After you have successfully apply for jamb, the next thing to do is to know your exam date, time, and center. All this can be found on your jamb examination slip.
The exam slip is required and mandatory for entrance into the examination hall, the exam slip might not be available immediately after your registration, you will need to go back to the jamb cbt center to print out the exam slip when jamb commence the printing of jamb examination slip.
