According to the poll findings, which were made public on Wednesday, Obi is in the lead among the four so-called front-runners for the 2023 presidential election.

Following the claim that an opinion poll commissioned by the ANAP Foundation, a non-profit organisation, was rigged to favour the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as the front-runner ahead of the 2023 election, rival supporters have been exchanging harsh words online.

According to the poll findings, which were made public on Wednesday, Obi is in the lead among the four so-called front-runners for the 2023 presidential election.

Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) are the three others listed in the poll.

The poll’s results revealed that 23 per cent of the participants said they would support Obi, while 13 percent supported Tinubu.

Atiku came third with 10 percent, while Kwankwaso came a distant fourth with two percent.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Atedo Peterside, ANAP’s founder said, Mr. Peter Obi’s 10%-point lead at this stage is significant, but not sufficient to separate him from a leading pack of candidates scoring 13%, 10% and 2%.”

“Undecided voters and those who prefer not to reveal their preferred candidate add up to a whopping 29% and 23% respectively.

“The gender split of undecided voters shows that 38% of women are undecided versus 21% of male voters.
“This result was polled from 1,000 respondents; after which Anap Foundation conducted similar polls with a 2,000 and 3,000 respondents sample size, the difference in the results was not significant.”

In response, Ifeanyi, a Twitter user, asserted that Atedo Peterside’s close friendship with Peter Obi had tainted the poll’s results.

“This is why any ANAP poll will be skewed to LP.  The element of Bias is strong. Very strong. I’m inclined to work with @sbmintelligence polls due to their hands off approach to polls. It’s also the reason I never released my own polls. I have my personal bias even though I seem to have a larger sample size than ANAP and NOIs first poll.

“While the essence of a poll is to show where everyone is, it can also be used for perception management. The belief that Peter Obi is doing better in the NC than either PDP or APC is SURPRISING. Considering the role DBCs play and the absence of strong LP DBCs in the region

“When I called Katsina for PDP, I did so because my agents on the ground in all 31 LGAs were very clear on where the tide is. I further confirmed that PDP is elite consensus in the state.  The strong showing of LADO in the state 2 days ago validated my polls.

“ANAP polls is good for perception management. But I doubt if this is the true reflection of what’s on ground. It feels like guess work conducted in a room with fellow obidients,” he concluded.

However, for the supporters of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Obi, the poll results indicate that their candidate has a strong chance of winning the 2023 presidential election.

For Instance, Chief Nomso said, “ANAP polls have always Predicted accurately every election since 2011, mind you they Predicted APC to win Ekiti & SDP to come 2nd & also PDP to win Osun this year alone. They know the game.”
“ANAP was accurate in 2011, 2015 & 2019, but denialism is making some people to against their predictions towards 2023. You’ll all be shocked,” Dan_Borno said.

Aku-N’esi-Obi-Ike said those doubting the validity of the polls are doing that because it did not favour their candidate.

“Since 2011 that ANAP Poll began to conduct pre-election polls, it has never been wrong, not even for once. So, I wonder what makes you think they’re now wrong? Lol Bcos the outcome of the polls didn’t favor your candidate? No worries, Feb no far again. I go use your tears shower,” he said.

“ANAP Polls was correct in 2015 and 2019, but because of Peter Obi, some people don’t believe ANAP polls anymore,” Davidson said.
