Tasued Student Bakare Olamide dies at Conference hotel, Abeokuta

Bakere Olamide a third year student of Tai Solarin University Education (Tasued),was confirmed present at Conference Hotel Abeokuta earlier on Tuesday 18th of May 2021 where he died

The incident occurred when a gas exploded in the hotel building, it was reported that olamide and two others where inside an underground room inside the hotel at the time of the gas explosion, the explosion caused a partial collapses inside the hotel that crushed and led to death of olamide and two others

The student union president of the institution, Soneye Abdul-Azeez Lekan further released a statement on olamide’s death that same day as stated below

BEING THE STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF BAKARE OLAMIDE

The Students Union had received with rude shock the sad news of the sudden death of one her members, Bakare Olamide, who was a year three student of the department of Economics.
According to reports, Olamide was at Conference Hotel, Abeokuta earlier today, Tuesday 18th of May 2021 where he died.

We have read the irresponsible statement of the hotel management released in the name of one Tunde Osinubi wherein he stated that a gas explosion which could have occurred due to a fake gas cylinder led to the death of our colleague. It was gathered that two person died, with Olamide inclusive.

However, we found the statement not only baseless, irresponsible and unprofessional but also inhumanly from such a management.
Sadly, the information is that as at the time of putting up this statement, the hotel continues to operate without any respect for the lives that were lost.

Fundamentally, we are making our intention known that the management of the hotel shall be held responsible for the death of our colleague as their irresponsibility and unprofessional hands have resulted to the ugly incident.
Our condolences goes to the relatives of Olamide. He was a student with a reputable character. And we shall use all legal instrument available to ensure the management of the hotel is held responsible accordingly.

The Owl News also gathered that the colleague of the deceased has make plans to visit the family of Olamide by producing two bus to convey them from the student union building at the Tasued Aluta Market to olamide’s family house to show their condolences on the death of their colleague
