The police in Ebonyi State on Saturday violently dispersed people who had gathered in the capital Abakaliki to hold a rally to support the Labor Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

A group of Obident as his supporters gathered at Abakaliki Pastoral Center for the march when the police stormed the place and dispersed them with tear gas. This resulted in the congestion of many streets and roads in Enugu in the capital on Saturday morning.

One of his supporters, Steve Ugama, said that in addition to dispersing and dispersing his supporters, the police arrested about five of his colleagues. He said: “It is a terrible thing in a democracy.

We gathered here this morning for our peaceful march, soon the police came and started throwing water on us and arresting our people. “They said we cannot hold the protest, because Governor David Umahi told them to stop us, and we cannot hold it. About four people or our colleagues were arrested. We need help here.

However, his supporters gathered in another part of the city and continued the march. At the time of this report, they were spotted on the Enugu- Abakaliki road.
